Parents, grandparents, and caregivers should learn how to respond if a child is choking or stops breathing.  Attending a class is the best way to learn about CPR through practicing on mannequins while being supervised by an experienced instructor.

Focus is on ages infant to 12 years old

As a parent, grandparent, or babysitter, you are the first person to react in a child's emergency. Learn and practice on mannequins:

How to determine if infant or young child is in distress
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation for cardiac arrest
Techniques for eliminating choking
Rescue breathing for respiratory arrest

Must register each person separately

Infant CPR - MetroHealth

Family and Friends Infant CPR Class

The MetroHealth System and American Heart Association Training Center offers this free course designed for lay rescuers. This course teaches CPR and relief of choking for infants up to one year of age.

Trained instructors will teach techniques to save the life of an infant by recognizing unconsciousness, respiratory arrest, cardiac arrest and choking; performing effective CPR; and correctly activating the Emergency Medical Services (911) system.
Participants practice techniques on manikins.
This class is recommended for parents, grandparents and family child care providers.
